Q: What is this?

A: I don't know.

On My Way Home

I start the long trip home early tomorrow.  It has been such a long journey here in Seattle, but I am excited for what’s to come next.  I have learned quite a bit here, but not in the sense I was thinking.  I feel like this has been something that has bolstered my understanding about what design is and how I should be using my design in the near future.  I know that sounds vague, but there are many options open in the future.

Look forward to posts on the road.  Hopefully I will update this blog more and more.

Seattle...so far

I must admit that my posts have not been epic or common, but I do have a job, which I must admit takes up a lot of time.  So excuses aside, here is what I have been up to.

I have been working at a small Web start-up called Jackson Fish Market.  They specialize in making apps for the internet that are branded by companies that you hear of daily.  For instance, they have an app called They’re Beautiful, which is a virtual flower delivery service.  You can send virtual bouquets of flowers to loved ones and enemies alike.  How JFM makes their money is through companies attaching their name to their products.  All of the apps are owned by JFM, so that means that they can “rent” their product to whomever they wish.

Us, as interns, have been creating our own app.  It revolves around dance.  That is as much as I can say for now, but it will be out soon, so you will get the chance to interact with it soon.

As for life outside of work, things are going well.  I miss Florida, but am growing to enjoy Seattle.  There are fun things to do and see, but I live in an “eccentric” part of the city, so it can be interesting to see how people live.

I am off to bed, but I have put some pictures of the area for you to enjoy!

Many weeks in...

The title may be a little sparse when it comes to being descriptive, but I have faith that all two of my readers will know what I am referring to when I write.

So far, work is going well, although it is much more work-ish than I am used to and it has taken me many mistakes to feel at ease with where I’m at.  I almost am excited about getting back to school, but that excitement is really anticipation at best.

Besides work, I have been quite mobile with my undertakings here in Seattle.  On any given day, there is plenty of things to do, which is probably why I don’t post much on this blog, but I digress.

Well, I must get back to work now.  I feel as if tomorrow will be long and tiring.  I miss my Florida friends.

I AM HAVING THE TIME OF MY LIFE!!!

So, I am sitting here at this brand new Mac computer in a brand new office, sipping some coffee and really loving it.  This is awesome!  It actually feels like I’m an employee as a designer.  That may change, but as a first day, today rates pretty awesome.

I haven’t really done anything, except for fiddle on my computer.  I’ll take some pictures and show them off soon.

Day ? - Home

It has been a couple of days since I last wrote, and there is a reason for that.

I could fault the lack the of internet, but that would be the easy way out.  I actually felt tired of writing.  I really do like writing, but the daily grind of writing, then uploading pictures, and posting all of these things on the site was a little much for my tired fingers.

Regardless, I have made it to my final destination.  Or…sort of.  My final-final destination is Seattle, but as I am in Tacoma, which is not too far, then I consider my road trip done, but not my journey (so poetic).  My last few stops were memorable, especially my trip to Costa Mesa to visit my friend Josh, who is one of the most amazing GD’s ever.

I have for you, the pictures from San Francisco and some from my drive from Phoenix (which was not too pleasant).

Day 15 - Grand Expectations

I purposely left off writing yesterday, mostly because it took longer than I thought it would to arrive in Phoenix from the Grand Canyon.  Also, It’s really hot here (39 celsius) and I didn’t feel like sitting, pitting and sweating while writing about a trip up to the Grand Canyon.

Which by the way, was AWESOME!  All my pictures on my Flickr link are labeled “Grand Canyon”, just because I am lazy and didn’t want to take time to label how one Grand Canyon picture varied from another.  Regardless, it was really neat to see something that was so gigantic and mind-boggling.

So, now I am in Phoenix, and I am plotting out my trek to my next stop.  It’s so warm here, that all I want to do is get out of here.  So I think that is what I will do.  See you in California!

Day 14 - Good Friends

As much as I have had a hard time with the whole aspect of travelling alone, I have been blessed with a smooth trip and the company of good friends.

When I awoke today, I knew I had a long day ahead of me, but I wasn’t sure where I would end up.  My plan was to stay in Flagstaff, but I knew that one of my friends from Flagler lived in Arizona somewhere and I wanted to stop in to say “hey”.  I called Anna and her boyfriend Micah, and I found out that they lived close to where I was going to stay.

A little while later, we met up and had some tasty Mexican food and even later on, we enjoyed a small bonfire and the company of friends.

Today was a good day.  Sure it’s hard, driving on my own, but this is an experience, and I am experiencing something that I have never done before.  I shouldn’t complain.

Thanks Micah and Anna!
